• Doesn’t my backup software already handle open, locked and in-use files?
  
  Most backup software packages DO NOT include the ability to backup, open, locked and in-use files which could leave potential security holes in your backup plan.
  
  
• Can’t I just run my backup at night or kick users off the network to run my backup?
  
  Mission critical machines, such as database or web servers, should never be taken down even at night. Same concept applies to users, don’t lower their productivity by asking them to log out!
  
  
• What backup software does FAM work with?
  
  FAM was designed to dynamically work with all backup software by allowing the end user to add the backup software to FAM’s allowed list.
  
  
• What if I change backup software? Do I need to repurchase FAM?
  
  Definitely not! FAM will work with an unlimited amount of backup packages without limitations.
  
  
• Does FAM work with SQL, Exchange, Lotus Notes, Oracle, etc.?
  
  Yes, FAM works with all business applications.
  
  
• How is FAM licensed?
  
  FAM is licensed per machine and is required on any machine that would host an open, locked or in-use file. Multiple copy discounts are available.
  
  
• Does FAM require a lot of extra space?
  
  No. FAM only temporarily copies the part of the file that has changed during a backup leaving space requirements at a minimum.
  
  
• Why do I need FAM if I have Volume Shadow Copy Service (VSS)?
